Coffee and The Usual Target Decor Trip

Never get a Keurig. You will be addicted. A cup in the morning is one thing, but when you're drinking coffee in the middle of the afternoon, that's when you just feel old.

In other news, I went to Target last week and spent way too much money, as usual. I bought a few new fall clothing items, some accessories, and some gifts for upcoming birthdays and weddings. I couldn't go to Tar-jay though, without a little stroll through the decor aisles. This time I just took pictures of a couple of tables that I thought were pretty awesome.

Target decor never seizes to amaze me. Shiny gold and brass side tables. And on sale, too?

And check out this bar cart. Super fancy! Wouldn't it be awesome for parties? Ok, that's enough for today. Until next time, Target.

Lovable Livable Amazingness

Who has two thumbs and just got her new YHL book in the mail? This girl! It officially hit store shelves on Tuesday. I'm all for my favorite (former) bloggers John and Sherry Petersik coming out with new books, and as long as they do, I will continue buying them! Lovable Livable Home is the couple's second home decorating book that they've written. I leafed through all of the pages already, and let me tell you, there is eye candy galore in this book! And so many great ideas. Can't wait to read through the whole thing.

I even made Trent take a picture of me with it. I'm a super nerd, I know.

Oh how I miss John, Sherry, Clara, Teddy, and Burger. Love that cute little family. Young House Love had a big hand in inspiring me to start a blog of my own. And did you know I met them on their first book tour back in 2012? I was a little excited to say the least!

I'm a little disappointed that I can't make it out for the second tour. Nonetheless, my week is now officially made. You, too, can get it here on Amazon, if you like. Happy reading and happy home decorating! :)

Brass Object Love

Happy first day of fall everyone! So I pretty much love my brass, gold, and bronze decor, as evidenced here, here, and here. For the last year or so, I've been a little obsessed with it and have added a few touches of gold to our living room decor. Since I also love inspiration round-up posts, I thought I'd search around for even more brass and gold eye candy in the form of brass objects. You know, those great objects that you set on tables and bookshelves so you can admire how pretty they look? I love how they have that timeless, antique look to them. If you're lucky, you can find brass vintage objects at antique stores. Some of them are even practical. A brass pineapple ice bucket anyone? Yeah, I had fun with this post. Enjoy! And a bonus just because I thought these brass camels were amazing...

4 Years of Brew Ha Ha

This weekend was the annual Brew Ha Ha festival. It's the biggest craft beer festival in the Quad Cities area. Trent is a big craft beer fan, so it's an annual thing to do every September. This was our 4th year going to this festival together. Trent has been going since 2011, so it was his fifth year in a row, and I went every year with him, except last year. (I was sick, so I missed it.) It is always a fun time sampling different beers, both locally brewed and national. It also kind of symbolizes the start of fall for us. Sometimes it's been a little chilly, but most of the time, the weather is super nice. We lucked out again this year weather-wise!

Each year, we've gotten the free signature tasting glass to commemorate the event - it's a different color each year. Saturday we attended the festival again, and it was so much fun. It started out by me winning a gum ball game against Trent and getting a free koozie. :) We have to take a selfie every time; it's kind of a tradition.

Here are our yearly selfies from Brew Ha Ha.

I wish I could have gone with Trent last year. The one year that I missed! As you can see, every year Bent River Brewery gives away stickers to all the attendees. We've been sporting them every time. This year, one of the breweries gave out faux mustaches. Those were a lot of fun. Trent changed his out a few times. :)

Hope everyone has had a great weekend! Today, we're spending our Sunday resting and watching movies. We finally got Netflix! We're slowly joining the twenty-first century. A Keurig, stainless steel stove, now Netflix. Where have we been the last five years?

Wedding Post Directory

Trent and I got married exactly one month ago on August 15, 2015. Our wedding was outside, right on the river, and my vision was what I like to call "Vintage Garden Elegance." I don't really know if that's a thing, but that's how I wanted it to feel. And we all have that vision of what we want our wedding to be like, right?

For decor, I collected vintage milk glass vases and added to my ever-growing mismatched China collection. I grew my own flower garden solely for my reception centerpieces, and was able to use a lot of the flowers in the wedding. All of the planning added up to a perfect day for us, and it was nice to see my vision finally come to life.

The last year or so before the wedding, we were busy creating that very day, and I blogged about our progress the whole way. This page is a collection of all of the links to my posts about the wedding. Almost every aspect of planning has been covered at some point! Hopefully this will be a helpful resource for anyone else who might be in the planning process as well. Plus, it's fun to look back on the whole process from beginning to end. (And it's nice to finally be done with it, too.)

I've sorted my posts into categories, from "Being Engaged" to "Flowers," to "DIY Projects," and more. Of course, there are some posts that don't really fit into one category, so feel free to explore. I will have a "Wedding Posts" icon soon on the right hand side of my blog so that you can come back to this page again. Enjoy!

Kitchen and Living Room Updates

This weekend was pretty relaxing, but productive, too. It felt like fall for the first time, in the 60's and 70's. We had a fire in the backyard and had a few of Trent's family over on Friday night. Saturday we visited my family then went to the lighted parade in Alpha, and today Trent watched the Bears/Packers game with the guys, and I stayed home and cleaned around the house. I also redecorated a little, found some places for the last of the wedding gifts, and watched some movies. It was a nice little Sunday!

I did manage to snap a few photos in the kitchen and living room today of some recent changes around the house. I already posted about our new stove that we got last weekend. We still think it's pretty awesome.

We also got a Keurig 2.0! I've been making the Cafe mocha pretty much every morning. I can't believe how fast it is, and that we haven't gotten one of these sooner.

I washed and put away all of the new dishes, glasses, and mugs we got. I just wish we had more storage! I'll probably have to get rid of a lot of old cups and plates.

I can't wait until we can redo the kitchen and get all new cabinets! Ever since the foundation got worked on, the cabinets have been split apart and away from the wall. The foundation still needs work, unfortunately!

I did put my dishes back up on the wall after we used them in our wedding centerpieces. I just changed out a few of them.

In the living room, I changed up a few frames - Our guest book frame that all of our guests signed at the wedding is now in the center of the room on our floating shelf.

It replaces the picture of Trent and his mom that his sister gave him a few years back. I moved it to the side table though, so it's still in the room. It's just nice to change things up a little, but still have something else meaningful in its place.

It is probably one of the coolest mementos from the wedding. A nice alternative to a guest book, which would probably never be seen again for several years!

In the China hutch, I put the rest of my dishes away, along with the champagne flutes from our wedding, and our cake server and knife.

I think it's safe to say the hutch is completely full now!

My gallery wall got switched around, too. Though I think I need Trent to get home so he can move a couple of nails for me! We got that LOVE print on the right for a wedding gift, but it needs moved over a little bit to be centered.

I put one photo from the wedding in one of the frames, but think I'll wait to switch the others out until we get our professional photos back. The little "From this day forward" sign was also a wedding gift. Isn't it cute?

Of course I already shared a little about our new Mr. and Mrs. pillows. They're still sitting pretty on the couch for now.

I cleaned and straightened up quite a bit today, folded towels and put them away, and ran the dishwasher, along with redecorating a little bit. So I think I had a pretty productive Sunday. I like my blogging and movie watching view a little better now I think. :)

That's all for now! I think I'll work on putting together that wedding link post...All of my wedding projects on one page. Hope to have that done this week!

Pillow Talk

Besides a new stove, we've also got some new pillows up in herre. Well, we've got new lots of things, since we recently tied the knot and all. And we're slowly trying to make space for everything around the house! It's going to be a while I think before we can clean out some space for it all. Anyway though, back to the pillows.

These were the cutest wedding gifts - from Trent's cousin Amanda and her husband Steve. Aren't they adorbs??

I have no idea where they got them, but everytime I walk into the bedroom now, I get Jack Johnson stuck in my head.

I'm going to just file this under one of the coolest wedding gifts we got.

And speaking of pillows with words, we also got these lovely little pillows from Trent's aunt Gloria. I actually think she made them herself!

She also made us another little pillow, and a quilt that Trent's mom and grandma had both worked on. I have to say that I haven't found a place for ALL of the picture frames that we received for the wedding yet, but I didn't have a problem finding space for any of these lovely pillows. I do have quite a few on the couch now, so it may be time to move them over to the side chairs. For now though, I kind of like them right in the center of the couch. :)
