Garden Update: A Month Later

I'm happy to report that so far our garden is still alive and growing! Slowly but surely. Here's how our plants that we planted in May (see that post here) are doing:

The plants are amid all of the grass clippings we put down to keep the weeds down. The tomatoes (first row on the left) are doing awesome. The peppers and cucumbers...not doing too much yet. They're still alive, though. They just need more water. I think. (What do I know about gardening? Ha.) For a while we got tons of rain and had flash flooding..but the past week or so we've had pretty much nothing.

Here's a Before and After almost a month later:
THEN:
NOW:
A little improvement I suppose. At least they're not dead!

We're trying to run the sprinkler as much as possible..but check out our neighbor's garden behind ours. I told you - It's literally perfection. Would be nice to be retired and have nothing else to do but work in the garden... Haha. It puts our measly garden to shame.

Good news - We finally planted the seeds we bought. Yep, a little late - June 11th! Better late than never, I guess! They're broccoli, lettuce, cabbage, and corn. And we've got a little basil in there as well. And the carrot seeds we planted last month are sprouting finally! Exciting!

Here's those tomatoes coming up. I have a feeling we're going to have more tomatoes than we know what to do with this summer. Not a bad thing though! I've been looking up salsa recipes! :)

Freshly planted seeds....
I mentioned last time that we also have strawberry, blackberry, and rhubarb that come up every year. Well, we found some random patches of asparagus growing in our yard, too!

Oh, and this is a little random, but here's an aerial view of Trent laying down grass in the garden (I took it from the upstairs window, 'cause I'm sneaky like that):

Saleen seems to be excited about our veggies springing up!
In house news, the second foundation company is coming out to look at our foundation tomorrow! It's been a while since the first one came out and we still haven't heard any prices, but we've been told that our quote is finally in the mail and should arrive soon. This is going to be a much longer process than we expected I think...
